The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

As London emerges from the shadow of the Second World War in January 1946, author Juliet Ashton is looking for her next book subject. She finds it in a letter from a man from Guensey, whom she has never met. He came across her name written inside a book by Charles Lamb.

As Juliet and this man from Guernsey exchange letters, she is drawn into his eccentric world & that of his friends. As letters fly back and forth amongst these friends, Juliet comes to understand these extraordinary personalities and their lives under German occupation. She then decides to visit them in Guernsey and what she finds there changes her forever.

Written with wit and warmth, this book celebrates the way we find connections in people in the most surprising way. Athough it is set more than 60 years ago, strangely enough, this book reminds me of our connections on twitter and facebook as we forge our way as pioneers in social media.
